Check the winter route before booking across the Notch Stowe and Smugglers' Notch sit close together on a map, but Route 108 through the mountain pass closes to vehicle traffic in winter. Smugglers' Notch Resort warns that navigation apps may suggest the closed pass and publishes separate winter directions via Morrisville and Jeffersonville. Before choosing lodging on the other side, price the actual winter drive, fuel and travel time. Use the resort's winter directions and Vermont road updates for your travel date; the seasonal closure is not a live report that the road is closed today.
