Utah K–5 families: check five free Park City days

Open tip ↗

The 2026/27 SchoolKids Utah pack gives eligible Utah K–5 children five free Park City days, with no purchase required. Register online through the official page and wait for confirmation before collecting a new pass; returning participants use their reloaded card. Enrollment is limited-time, so confirm eligibility and availability now. Restricted dates are November 27–28 and December 26–31, 2026, January 16 and February 13–14, 2027. Children who have never skied or snowboarded can receive one combined first-timer lesson and rental package, subject to availability. Call at least two weeks ahead; published lesson windows are December 7–19, January 5–15 and January 19–30. Adult access, travel and equipment outside that package remain separate costs.

Rework Eagle Point plans for winter 2026–27

Open tip ↗

Eagle Point announced it will not operate for winter 2026–27 after Cottonwood Fire damage. Its August 3 announcement offers purchasers of a 2026–27 season pass a refund, transfer to 2027–28, or donation toward recovery. Contact the resort for your election deadline and processing details; a transfer option is not a reopening guarantee. Confirm any lodging arrangements separately before changing your trip.

Choose your Canyons parking plan before the ski day

Open tip ↗

For winter 2026/27, Park City lists the Canyons garage at $29 per day, free after noon, with free areas for carpools of four or more when space is available. A limited adjacent surface lot remains free and first come, first served. Compare these with a park-and-ride and free transit. Check payment details and arrival instructions for your dates; summer parking information and older Mountain Village FAQs on the same page are not the new Canyons winter plan. The resort also links its @pcmtnalert X account for operational updates. Neither a free space nor a clear arrival route is guaranteed.

Check the hotel-to-bus walk before booking Kimball Junction

Open tip ↗

In a local visitor discussion, skiers describe using buses from Kimball Junction and point out that the exact lodging location matters. Before booking, check the walk with ski gear, legal crossings, the stop serving your chosen base and the last return bus. Use High Valley Transit’s current trip planner to verify the journey; its service is fare-free, but old route numbers and community claims about frequency are not a winter timetable. Compare the room plus airport transfers with a rental car, fuel and parking. A room advertised as near transit still needs an address-to-stop check.

Count Deer Valley days and reserve before committing to a trip

Open tip ↗

The 2026/27 full Ikon Pass includes up to seven days at Deer Valley, and each ski date needs a reservation. Deer Valley says reservations are available now through the Ikon account. Confirm your dates before committing to lodging, and count earlier visits against your allowance. The resort's own Unlimited Pass is a different product. Old spring-2026 bonus access does not turn the 2026/27 allowance into unlimited skiing. Recheck the official reservation and cancellation rules when your plans change.

Trade weekend mornings for a lower-cost Brighton pass

Open tip ↗

Brighton's selector showed $675 for a new adult Off-Peak pass (19+) versus $1,289 for adult Unlimited (28-64) on September 8. Off-Peak covers 9am-2pm Monday-Friday with holiday exclusions, plus 2pm to close every day. It replaces the old Midweek and Twilight passes. Match your arrival times and holiday plans before choosing; confirm the operating calendar and lit terrain for night riding. Rates rise September 12, so recheck the current quote. The full-day calculator does not model Off-Peak's hourly access. Unlimited is the option for unrestricted Brighton days; its Ikon add-on is a separate purchase.

Use Alta-Bird bonus days on a weekday

Open tip ↗

Alta lists two bonus days each at Brighton and Snowbasin for 2026/27. They exclude Fridays through Sundays and December 26–30, January 16–17 and February 13–14. Plan an eligible Monday–Thursday visit and confirm redemption. These bonus days are separate from the calculator's Alta/Snowbird coverage.

Count the Snowbird child pass before buying another

Open tip ↗

A qualifying Alta-Bird purchase includes one Snowbird Freeloader pass for someone 18 or younger. Confirm the qualifying adult product and redemption steps before paying for separate child access. This benefit covers Snowbird; it does not provide the child with an Alta-Bird pass.

Compare the Ikon add-on before buying a second full pass

Open tip ↗

Alta lists Ikon add-ons at $859 for full Ikon or $359 for Base, purchased with a qualifying Alta-Bird pass by December 10, 2026. Add-on access differs from standalone Ikon products. Read the excluded destinations before budgeting; the calculator does not price these add-ons.

Visiting Utah? Check your child's grade and age

Open tip ↗

Ski Utah's passport accepts fourth-, fifth- and sixth-graders from any state or country who meet its age requirement of 9–12 throughout the season. It provides three days per participating resort, with one passport per grade. Check the current price, approval status and each resort's redemption instructions before travel. The current guide lists Eagle Point as paused for 2026/27, so do not count it toward this winter's trips.

Match Utah passport days to the holiday calendar

Open tip ↗

For 2026/27, Ski Utah lists no passport blackout dates at Brian Head, Cherry Peak, Nordic Valley, Snowbasin and Solitude. Its other nine operating partners exclude November 27–28, December 26–31, January 16–17 and February 13–14. Choose dates and mountains together, then check parking and redemption separately; a usable child ticket does not include adult access.

Budget for the bus, but check the boarding plan

Open tip ↗

A January 2026 r/UTsnow discussion describes full buses passing waiting riders. Use this as a prompt to check departure stops, current service and a return plan; it does not establish today's capacity or a guaranteed best arrival time.
