Treat those experiences as a reason to compare options, not a promise of short lines or suitable terrain for everyone. Ask the ski school which lesson, lift ticket and rental package fits your group, then compare the complete day's cost with a Winter Park plan. Recheck current prices, ages, meeting points and terrain openings. Old comments about free skiing for local children or ticket discounts are not current eligibility rules.
