Compare the whole Winter Park rail trip, not just the train fare Winter Park Express riders in a COsnow discussion describe comfortable travel and relief from driving, but disagree about price and delays. Treat those accounts as individual experiences, not a reliability forecast. For your own comparison, add round-trip fares for everyone, getting to Union Station, any Denver overnight stay, and the transfer to your lodging. Compare that total with car hire or shared driving costs, fuel and parking. Allow room around the return journey instead of assuming the published arrival time guarantees a tight onward connection. Amtrak recommends arriving at least 30 minutes before departure and describes a dedicated ski-storage area with no extra ski fee. Recheck those rules for your train. As of September 14, its page still lists 2025/26 dates and fares; confirm 2026/27 availability before committing to lodging. Budget lift access separately unless your actual booking explicitly includes it.
