- What is a local season pass, and why consider one over Epic or Ikon?
- A local (single-resort) season pass is the pass a mountain sells for itself. For someone who skis one home mountain a lot, it is the real alternative to a megapass — and comparing against day tickets alone, as most pass calculators do, hides that. We track 125 of them with hand-verified, date-stamped prices.
- Which resort has the cheapest season pass?
- Of the 125 we track, Mount Bohemia (MI) is the cheapest at $99, breaking even in about 1 day. It also happens to be the best value on the list by cost per powder day — roughly $9 for each 6-inch day it records in a typical season.
- How is breakeven calculated?
- Pass price divided by that resort's typical peak-window day-ticket price. It is deliberately simple arithmetic with no forecast in it. Ski more days than the breakeven and the pass wins; fewer and day tickets are cheaper. Each resort page also shows cost per powder day, which is often the more useful number.
Prices are verified by hand and date-stamped on each pass page; several carry a clearly labelled prior-season price where the resort has not published 2026-27 rates yet. PassCast takes no commission on any pass. Cost per powder day uses each mountain's typical 6-inch-day count from 36 recorded winters.
