The short version
The live map uses a current ECMWF Open Data IFS model source near listed mountain locations. It classifies model windows rather than translating a grid cell into resort snowfall, settled base, terrain access, or a day-of-skiing verdict.
The discipline is simple: use the map to notice a place, use a closer forecast where available, and use the operator for the decision that matters. That order creates useful snow stoke without asking a weather signal to answer questions it cannot answer.
The 7-day + 8-day workflow
The 15-day display uses one seven-day window followed by one eight-day window. They are not separate resort forecasts, and adding them together would create a confidence the source does not provide.
The first window is a short-range model signal. A positive marker can earn a closer look, but it is not an observed snow report, a resort total, or a promise that the day will ski well.
The second window is intentionally shown apart from days 1–7. Keeping the windows separate helps prevent a farther-out model idea from being read as one combined resort forecast.
